Four Cost Cutting Tips In Gardening

Gardening can be an art or simply a rewarding hobby.  Some people cultivate a garden for food, which they can eat or sell, others keep a garden just so they can put up pretty flowers and add to the beauty in the world.  But gardening can be also expensive.  Is it a hobby just for the rich or can you be both frugal and a master gardener?  Consider four ways to trim costs on your gardening project.

1. Be Patient.

Everybody wants the best things in life right away, including gardeners all over the world.  That's why stores are able to charge more money for larger plants-larger overhead and more demand for the instantly beautiful selection.  Buying smaller plants and seeds however, always at a lower price, eventually rewards the patient gardener.  You can always add special ingredients to make your small plant grow bigger.  Adding to your wallet is always much more difficult.

2. Be disloyal.

To local stores you've always used, and to shopping methods you've always had.  If you've never shopped online before, how do you know you're not paying too much for plant and gardening supplies?  Using the Internet to shop is a very frugal idea.  Not only can you search for discounted supplies nationally; you can also search for local nurseries near you that offer a better deal.

3. Stop paying too much for your rocks.

While stones and borders for your garden may be good for decoration, they are just rocks for sale.  You can cut down on extra store and nursery expenses by finding your own rocks.  You can find some good garden rocks at construction sites and camping sites.

4. Share with your plant.

Maybe you don't have the money to invest in plant additives.  Then why not just share your coffee?  Did you know that espresso, containing caffeine and Theophylline, also could act as plant fertilizer?  Mix the espresso in with your soil every few months and see the results.  What do you know--everybody loves coffee.

Gardening is fun for everybody and a joy to look at as much as it is to cultivate.  Fortunately, it doesn't have to be expensive fun.
