What Interior Decorators Don't Want You To Know
|
You Can Shop Cheap
You don't always have to buy brand new merchandise. If you pay an interior decorator for labor and materials, then you will most likely be doing the opposite of frugal shopping. By visiting yard sales and flea markets, you can find average quality merchandise and redecorate them into looking good as new. What kind of merchandise can you find? To name a few, wicker, dressers, glass, shelves, frames and many other home furnishings. Clean the items up with disinfectant and repackage them in new paint or fabrics as needed, and you have a decorative piece practically as good as new.
You Can Shop Around
Paying a professional for labor and materials is sure to take a sizable chunk out of your bank account. Even if you decide to hire a decorator going out and price comparing yourself (retail stores and Internet stores) can save you money. If you provide the materials all you have to pay for is the labor involved.
You Can Be Creative
Don't think that home decoration is all about high price and designer merchandise. Just because a piece of furniture looks ugly or out of place, doesn't mean it cannot be repackaged into something better. The best things in home decoration are also the least expensive: wallpaper and paint, and fabrics (from curtains to pillowcases) are inexpensive, as compared with pricier furnishings and accessories. All it takes to make a room look professional and elegant is creativity and color coordination.
You Can Do It On Your Own
Most first time decorators are too intimidated to try a project on their own. What the professionals don't want you to know is that you can do it yourself; it just takes creativity and meticulous planning.
