Five Things You Hate About Your Room

You never did like your room.  Growing up it was always the place you were sent when you were in trouble.  As a teenager it was always the place you were in when there was nothing else to do.  Now you're all grown up and your room is still a dull place.  But it doesn't have to be!  You can renovate your office or bedroom and make your room a true sanctuary that's not a drag to live in.  Consider first the five things you hate about your room and then the answer to your frustrations.

1.I wake up and see my office in front of me and it makes me think of work.  Yuck!

If you're working out of your bedroom or dining room, then there might be a conflict of interest there.  No one wants to think of work the first thing in the morning or when he or she is eating.  So why not add another room altogether for your office?  Not only will this separate work from play, you'll also have much more room for all those fun appliances you counted as a business expense.

2.It's so dark and dreary in here.  Yuck!

Why work in drudgery when you can work in the sun and with a constant cooling breeze?  You don't have to go outside to work; you can just add a couple of windows.  Windows are always good in improving the market value of your house, and they add a level of sunshine and cheeriness to your day.

3.The same bedroom after all these years.  I've changed and it has stayed the same.  Yuck!

Some might opt for home renovation plans as the answer to this routine problem.  Sure, who wouldn't be happy with a king sized bid, a larger walking area, more space for TVs and a few extra closets?  But not everyone can afford a complete remodeling-and even those who can don't necessarily want all that excitement in such a peaceful room.  How about a simple paint job then?  Painting and redecorating your bedroom can be just as exciting as renovating.  Better yet, it can be done in a day or two and for a lot less money. 

4.No matter what color I paint it, it still looks the same.  Yuck again.

Then why not add something a little more impressive than just a different color?  If your bedroom or home office has carpeting, then replace the carpet with a new color and style.  If you have flooring instead, purchase some higher quality tile, such as oak with laminate.  It will definitely spruce up the color.  You can also choose to improve the lighting or add a ceiling fan for more subtleties.

5.I have to go all the way out to the kitchen to get a drink...of coffee, of course.

Yuck, that is an inconvenience.  But guess what?  You can invest in a morning bar and have your morning coffee along with a breakfast in bed just inches away from you.  Morning bars include sinks and faucets, dishwashers, small refrigerators, and a counter top for breakfast appliances like coffee makers, espresso machines and microwaves. 

This are the type of improvement plans that make being at home fun again!
